Every parent likes to remind their kids of the sacrifices they've made for them. I knew I would have to do the same. I just didn't think it would happen so soon!

My buddy Marc called me earlier asking what I was doing on Wednesday. He just happened to have...wait for it...backstage passes to Incubus on Wednesday! Now I'm not like an uber-Incubus fan but I hve 3 of their CDs.

But why Wednesday? The first day I go back to work after 2 weeks. Now I personally think the wife will be fine but on the off chance she is frazzeled and needs a nap when I get home, I really need to be there. If it had been Tuesday then maybe. One last fling before going back to work. Its only 3 hours. Or if it had been even a week from Wednesday, once we are back in the groove, maybe. But I just couldn't do it to either of my girls.

I know when she is older I would say to my daughter, "See what I do for you!" But if I tried that now she would probably just make a grunting noise and then drop the bomb. So maybe she can read this in 10 years when Incubus is being inducted into the music Hall of Fame.

We have this painting in our room:

We can't stop laughing. I hope there is someone on the other end of the boat with some paddles. Or did the woman's husband just push them out: "See you guys later!" Molly suggested that there may be a motor on the other end. Also some good imagery. A woman in a long dress steering an outboard motor with the kid holding for dear life on at the other end. What a stupid painting.

I'm a daddy!
