License to drive

So I go to rent a U-Haul last Friday. I hand my license to the guy behind the counter. "You know your license is expired." Woops. Interestingly, this didn't seem to concern the folks at U-Hual. They gladly gave me the van. Apparently, as long as you've been able to drive at some point in the past, they're cool with you.

Anyway. So I went to get my license renewed yesterday. I took the EL down to the loop and went to the Express Facility in the Cook County Administration Building. This was the best DMV ever! It was empty. There were more workers then actual customers. I was in and out in 5 minutes and this was at 9:15 in the morning! My favorite part was after I paid the cashier she said, "Ok Ryan. Have a seat and I will call you when I'm ready." And then 5 seconds later she said. "Ryan Landek, please step over."

Of course, cosmic forces don't allow for any DMV trip to be quick so I sat on the EL coming home for 40 minutes due to some problem. It wasn't one of those horrible stories about sitting in a packed subway car with no air conditioning 40 feet underground. I pretty much spent most of the time watching the traffic on Fullerton. Still annoying though.
